ATHENA of the Triangle Celebrates 10 Years of Empowering Women Leaders
Raleigh, NC – ATHENA of the Triangle, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women through leadership development, celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Founded by Linda Craft, ATHENA of the Triangle has evolved into a vital community resource for women across industries seeking mentorship, support, and leadership growth.
Empowering Women Leaders
Linda Craft, one of the founding members of ATHENA of the Triangle, began the organization with a simple yet powerful vision: to create opportunities for women to cultivate their leadership potential. “The motivation behind starting ATHENA was a deep desire to empower women and provide them with opportunities to develop their leadership skills,” Craft said. “I saw the potential in women leaders who needed a platform to grow and wanted to create a space where they could be inspired, mentored, and connected with others who shared similar values.”
What began as a gathering of like-minded individuals has blossomed into a thriving network that serves hundreds of women each year. ATHENA of the Triangle offers leadership programs, mentorship opportunities, and professional development resources that equip women to excel in their careers.
A Decade of Growth and Milestones
Since its founding, ATHENA of the Triangle has exceeded expectations. “The incredible momentum ATHENA has gained over the years has been a wonderful surprise,” said Craft. “We’ve seen the community embrace our mission in ways we never imagined.”
One of the organization’s proudest achievements is the launch of its mentorship program, which pairs experienced leaders with emerging women professionals. This program has been instrumental in helping women break through barriers and reach new heights in their careers. ATHENA has also hosted events featuring influential leaders from around the country, providing its members with invaluable insights and inspiration.
Looking to the Future
As ATHENA of the Triangle looks ahead to the next decade, Craft has big aspirations. “I hope ATHENA continues to expand its reach, offering more leadership development opportunities for women at all stages of their careers,” she said. “We want to become a national model for women’s leadership organizations, empowering women not just in the Triangle, but beyond.”
Craft envisions ATHENA playing a key role in shaping the future of women’s leadership, particularly in industries traditionally dominated by men. “Women's leadership will continue to evolve, with more women breaking barriers. ATHENA will be at the forefront of this movement, providing the support, training, and platforms women need to thrive.”
A Lasting Legacy
Reflecting on the organization’s impact, Craft hopes ATHENA of the Triangle leaves behind a legacy of empowerment, resilience, and collaboration. “I want future generations of women leaders to know they have a network that believes in their potential and will support them every step of the way,” she shared.
ATHENA’s unique focus on mentorship and community sets it apart from other leadership organizations. “We don’t just provide leadership training; we foster a culture of mutual support,” Craft added. “Our commitment to lifting each other up and focusing on both personal and professional growth truly differentiates ATHENA from other organizations.”
